Surprise DVD player

23/02/2026

Today, as I was leaving school, I walked by a bunch of old junk seemingly thrown in a corner of the school yard. Among them, a DVD player. Since I'd be rather keen on having a(nother) DVD player, I asked security if I could take it, and they said yes. I was delighted to carry that dusty box of metal home.

Thankfully, it wasn't dead when I plugged it in.

Unlike the DVD player I have at home, which I have to press the tray to get it to pop out, this one has a button that moves the tray in and out. How

polite! It gives me the same giddy feeling as interacting with the ticket dispensers at metro stations or the tissue paper dispensers at school. I think I might have been jealous of someone who had a similar DVD player when I was a child, even though it's not at all a rare feature.

What really got me though, is the screen that greets you! Ough, so cute...

Right now, I need a converter to connect it to my laptop, and I think the lens need cleaning too. Recently I bought the Shingetsu box set, so maybe the universe is telling me something... What I want to say is I'm really excited.
